The Bandai Carddass PSA population is 32,314 cards and 3,134 PSA 10s, and here they are split by red and green for the first time
PSA has graded 32,314 cards from the 1996 Bandai Carddass vending set and 3,134 of them are a PSA 10, as of its report of 4 October 2026. PSA's label pools the red and green versions, so we read the colour off each slab photo instead: 686 of those PSA 10s are red, 603 are green, and 540 known certs have no photo to read yet. The full grade ladder, the gem rate by card type, and the split for every prism.

One card in ten that PSA has graded from this set is a 10. PSA's heading 55389, "1996 Pokemon Japanese Bandai Carddass Vending", stood at 32,314 graded cards on 4 October 2026, 3,134 of them GEM MT 10, a gem rate of 9.7%. We have found 1,847 of those PSA 10 certs on PSA's site and read a colour on 1,289: 686 red and 603 green, which is 41.1% of the PSA 10 population and the first time the set's gem copies have been counted by version. What the set is has its own report. This one is the count.
The population figures are PSA's own, read once on 4 October 2026 for all 163 entries in the heading, so there is no earlier read to measure growth against. The 158 cards of the 1996 checklist hold 32,301 of the graded cards and 3,132 of the PSA 10s; the other 13 sit on four entries PSA lists under the heading that are not in the set. The colour counts are ours and are as of 14 October 2026. Prices are not in this report; the price report covers every PSA 10 sale since January 2024.
More than half the Bandai Carddass PSA population grades 8 or 9
The ladder below is every grade PSA has given a card from the set. PSA 9 is the largest column at 8,965 cards, 27.7% of the population, and PSA 8 is a close second at 8,488. Together with the 3,134 tens, the three top grades hold 63.7% of everything graded. Only 16 cards are Authentic with no numeric grade, and 182 are a PSA 1. A card from a vending machine in 1996 has, more often than not, survived thirty years in near mint condition or better.
Prisms gem at 7.3%, plain cards at 12.6%
The table splits the population by the five kinds of card in the set. The twelve prisms are 42.6% of everything graded, 13,780 cards, but only 1,001 of them are a 10, a gem rate of 7.3%; the 139 plain Pokémon cards gem at 12.6%, 2,094 of 16,569. The foil shows every scratch, and the prisms were the cards children pulled out and handled. The three trainer title cards and the four checklists are the hard end: 1,186 title cards graded for 19 tens, 238 checklists for 7.

The three trainer cards are the hardest 10s in the set
Among the 75 cards with 100 or more graded, the table ranks the five lowest and five highest gem rates, then lists the five cards with the fewest PSA 10s of any population. The Venusaur Trainer title card has 4 tens in 401 graded, 1.0%, and the Charizard Trainer 15 in 785. The Charizard prism, the card the market pays for, is the eighth hardest at 5.4%. At the other end, Farfetch'd is a 10 nearly one time in four, 24 of 106.

How a PSA 10 gets a colour
A cert is counted only after PSA's own cert page has confirmed the card and the grade, so a cert read off a photo sits unseen until that check passes. The colour comes from the MONSTERS COLLECTION banner across the foot of the card, red on the red version and green on the green, read from a photo of the slab; where PSA holds a photo of the cert the reading is checked against it. The reader was measured at 24 of 24 on labelled prism slabs and 70 of 70 on plain cards with the seller's colour in the title. An unknown is a cert PSA has confirmed as a 10 of this set that no photo we hold shows. Of the 1,289 coloured PSA 10s, 900 carry a PSA photo and 389 were read from a sale photo alone. The seven cards printed in one colour only, the three trainer title cards and the four checklists, are never given a split; 18 of their 37 PSA 10s have been found.
686 red and 603 green among the 1,289 PSA 10s we have read
Across the 151 cards that exist in both colours, the red version is 53.2% of the coloured PSA 10s. The twelve prisms are the best-covered part of the set and the table gives each one: 330 of their 1,001 tens have a colour, 182 red and 148 green, and 185 more are known certs with no photo. The Charizard is the deepest read at 55 of 113. The one prism where green clearly leads is Moltres, 13 green to 4 red; the Alakazam, Mew and Zapdos lean red by two to one on samples of 23 to 25.

A split on 16 copies can be chance, and the bars should be read as counts rather than as a rarity claim. What the whole prism set supports is narrower: red is ahead, 182 to 148, and no prism has yet shown a split wider than the Moltres. The numbers will move as the 185 unknown prism certs gain photos; the Gengar, with only 16 coloured of 74, is the least settled.
The plain cards lean red too, and ten of them lean hard
The 139 plain Pokémon cards have 2,094 PSA 10s between them and 959 have a colour, 504 red and 455 green, 52.6% red. 31 of those cards have ten or more coloured copies, and the table lists the ten with the most uneven split. Of the 31, 11 are red by 60% or more, 7 are green by 60% or more, and 13 sit between. Dodrio is 9 red to 2 green; Charmeleon and Nidorina go the other way.

The Bandai Carddass PSA population in five questions
- How many 1996 Bandai Carddass cards has PSA graded?
- 32,314 under heading 55389 as of 4 October 2026, with 3,134 of them a PSA 10, 8,965 a PSA 9 and 8,488 a PSA 8.
- What is the PSA 10 gem rate for the Bandai Carddass set?
- 9.7% across the set. The twelve prisms gem at 7.3%, the plain Pokémon cards at 12.6%, and the three trainer title cards at 1.0% to 2.1%.
- How many red and green PSA 10s are there?
- Of the 1,289 PSA 10s we have read a colour on, 686 are red and 603 green, 53.2% red. The other 1,845 PSA 10s in PSA's count are either known certs with no photo (540) or certs we have not found.
- Which Carddass prism has the most PSA 10s?
- The Charizard prism, 113 of 2,085 graded; the Blastoise and Mewtwo prisms are next at 106 each. The Venusaur prism has the fewest at 60.
- Does PSA's label say whether a Carddass card is red or green?
- No. Both versions share one PSA entry and one label text, so the population report pools them. The colour has to be read from the banner on the card itself, which is what this census does, cert by cert.
Every attributed cert is on its card page with its photo, from the Charizard prism to Pikachu, and every sale behind them is on the sales page.
